It was a time for high hopes and a time in which I saw all hope dashed upon the watery rocks below. Cthulhu One, the first convention held on May Eve 2005 in which S.T. Joshi and Robert M. Price were the guests of honor, had been an enormous success. Cthulhu Two held on May Eve 2009, however, was another matter. It was so sparsely attended that I might as well not even organized the event to begin with. Yet, organize it I had. I did what I could to make the best of it. The May Eve ritual would have to be powerful and evocative enough to over-compensate for the otherwise dismal failure of our second convention. I wrote it the day of, in a trance-like state surrounded by green lights, blasphemous idols, and copies of Liber A:O… cold off the presses.
Those who participated were spiritually raw upon the dark rite’s completion, their hearts and minds taken to a place unfathomable. I, in particular, felt ripples in the magical water – ripples that would continue to resonate throughout our universal ocean. Something had broken free that night!
Amidst the confusion of life and my own personal struggles, the ritual performed was subsequently lost. Where the manuscript had disappeared to, I had no clue. It was somewhere, I was sure, but after months of searching I had given up hope of ever finding it. Then, just as mysteriously as it disappeared, the original, hand-written pages materialized a couple of nights ago. With only a few small corrections, I submit this ritual in all its purity for your viewing pleasure. Behold, here is The Lost Ritual, Void Ooze and Tentacled Worms!

Together, we plumb such aborted depths that suggest the last nightmare – a final exhumation of nocturnal depravity from which there is no escape. Where only the darkness itself can be seen, reflected upon the mirrored souls of those who tirelessly seek absolute truth in limitless gulphs that only demonstrate the void’s true nature.
A far more gruesome reality seeps down into us, below every surface of skin and pore. Within the flesh, swim untamed rivers that are so black they shine sickly green for those who have the eyes to witness such eldritch sights.
Streams of ichor, sliming the cyclopean stones belonging to another age… a time of dreams and flopping, loping beings barely hanging onto a semblance of humanity. Our children? Our ancestors? Let our women give birth to shoggoths!
A magician’s mastery is force under control and appetite slowly unleashed. The world is not ready, nor should it ever be. To destroy natural creation is our purpose. Dear Anon921, you are an idiot. It’s fair enough to have your own beliefs, but just because you don’t support another’s doesn’t mean you can disrepute it. its not if its real or fake that you should question. reality is what you make of it. belief is power. so whether they believe in cthulhu or the flying spaghetti monster is irrelevant. All religions and gods are just imaginary friends and tools of which to obtain a greater understanding. I think the fourth way is honestly a great way to search for higher understanding. Its helping others reach for a higher purpose, greater concentration and a true understanding of their self. There is also a big difference between this and Scientology. I am not a memeber of the Cult of Cthulhu or any religion for that matter. I am an Agnostic. I see many idiotic arguments on this thread, and it is not coming from those that follow Cthulhu. Many of those arguments are likely coming from those that consider themselves ‘Christian’ and therefore cannot be taken with anything more than a grain of salt.
Now, is this Cult formed on the basis of a story? Yes, but what religion isn’t? If you look at the facts, ALL the worlds dominant religions follow roughly the same doctrine. I can easily relate the Roman and Greek religions with the Christian religion. Don’t argue with me on that, I know your religion better than you do Christians. To be clear, I have read your holy book more times than any of you have.
Although I am not really interested in becoming a member of this cult, that doesn’t stop me from wishing to learn about it. Why would I wanna learn something about evil? At least Cthulhu doesn’t try to hide his purpose, unlike ‘God’ who is actually the most messed up ‘being’ that has ever existed. Read the Old Testament and if you don’t find a world of messed up things, please give up on your religion.

Yes, he made the story, but it was all based on actual ancient events, happenings, phenomenons, and beliefs. He basically turned it into a modern “fairy tale”. Anyways, the Cthulhu Cult is primarily a mindset, a way of living life, a way of looking at it, and a way of seeing it. Some of us believe in an actual entity, some of us don’t. Try to look beyond Lovecraft, beyond a simple book.

Hi, um… I dont really know where to start at except by saying that the show south park and the show supernatural is what brought me here. I’m not trying to say that your cult is wrong because as far as anyone’s concerned, it isn’t. I have absolutely no idea what lies beyond the human existence, but i would much appreciate it if someone could 1 on 1 chat with me sometime and enlighten me to where as what it is that you believe in.

First off I would like to agree with Bruce in that this site, leaving aside the over-arching themes which seem to be the source of some antagonistic remarks from some almost certainly Abrahamic quarters, is a work of art in and of itself. Speaking as an atheist some of the terminology and concepts of the Work were perhaps slightly unpalatable for my thought-meats, but the techniques it outlines and the way it differentiates between sleepers and the Awakened, regardless of whether or not the Awakened are destined for higher, darker things is extremely elegant and well explained, and many of my peers (most of us have completed science degrees of one sort or another, which tends to lead to a rejection of thiest thinking) would agree with the idea that people are machines; after all, is a decision really a decision if it is the clear and obvious way to acheive your current goal or objective, whatever that might be? Is it free will simply to pic the best option from a handful of paths available to you that lead from where you are to where you want to be? food for thought without any dogma for our christian friends there

After reading the pdf of the *bible* I have a few questions as to Lovecrafts naming of the gods. I am Romanichal, a tribe of Gypsy, and the names somewhat come into play with my language. Is it possible Lovecraft was also a Gypsy? When I hear the term Satanism, I can’t help but imagine alot of people drinking blood and playing with large daggers, even though I fully understand and appreciate the “free-thinking” aspect many involved try to go for.. am I wrong?
