Can you hear the discordant notes sounding in the distance, in the concave corners of space, the squirming fissures of infinity, the godlike patterns of my mind…? A purple luminescence oozes across the sky. A crimson rift ushers in the demon world. Only a few of us observe. Those of us who are awake pour our consciousness into terrible and disturbing shapes. The alchemy transforms our liquid essence… our fluid psyche into a bilious green ichor.

From this point on, the rational and skeptical portions of your mind will have to relax. The stuff of "reality" is not fixed. This is a monumentally important idea. Each of us has a choice of how to take things and how to see them. The world can either be your ideal creation or your slave master.

If you view this message with a negative perspective, then all of it will seem like pulp horror fantasy. What I have to say will sound crazy, I'm sure. And there's no doubt that many of you will believe me insane. Nevertheless, I must speak the prophecy of the Ancient Ones… Cthulhu, Satan, Yog Sothoth, Nyarlathotep, Azathoth, Shub Niggurath, Hastur, and all evil deities!

Even though I am just a man, a mere suit of flesh in a vast cosmos… I have a special plan for this world. I am the chosen one, appointed by the Old Gods to spread their knowledge to those who struggle against this world. Those humans of demon blood who are receptive to these malevolent vibrations must take a risk in following a dreamer and madman.

The Cult of Cthulhu is about empowerment. My coherent System of Dark Occult Science (SoDOS) will open a gateway to Demonic Godhood…! Although, once you have these secret keys to the gate, you must create your own destiny. I cannot enter the hideous, slimy, emerald green kingdom for you. Each disciple must struggle for himself.

It has taken me 15 years of research, hardship, and fanatical devotion to get to this point, the final road. Only with the guidance of Satan, Cthulhu, and their many forms did I break through, entering their dimension. Now I offer this wisdom to those who seek it… the SoDOS, or The System, in an interlocking and comprehensive paradigm. Obviously, I cannot reveal more than a glimpse until you join our Cthulhu Cult. The forbidden lore of the Old Ones will allow you to master your life. It will allow you to master this world. And it will allow you to master the very fabric of existence!

The True Nature of Reality

Who can say this world works according to a logical and beneficial plan? Who among us can stand back and look objectively upon this ridiculous and wretched display without their soul vomiting? The banality of our christian corporate culture sickens me. Without a thought or a care, ordinary people trudge through their mundane existence. Like insects, humans quickly move from one vague pursuit to another. Our species would be utterly meaningless if not for two things.

One, humanity was designed as nourishment. Human suffering is food for the universe. Man, as he believes himself to be, is not real but an illusion. In fact, he does not exist at all. Everything that happens to us is pure accident; human beings have no will of their own. We are sleep walking slaves! Because of this our perception of "reality" is skewed.

Two, certain faculties in man evolved because of the Ancient Ones, the Devil-Gods. Seeing potential in Cro-Magnon, our consciousness was elevated. This is the missing (magical) link. We were given the potential to see our horrific position in the universe and to destroy this parasitic charade. Unfortunately, we evolved only half way. Humanity is stuck somewhere between monkey and God.

The meaning of life is this: Everybody Suffers. We are all wrapped up in the trials and tribulations of this existence. This tightly woven blanket wraps us to the point where we are insulated from the truth. We are asleep and may as well not be alive at all. And the keys to the Cult of Cthulhu's philosophy is to awake. We endeavor to influence the world more than we are influenced by it. It is the destiny of some to evolve further.

This is the underlying foundation of reality beneath us and our subjective experience: we suffer because we are broken machines, cracked eggs, incomplete programs, existential mutations, holograms who have lost their way. Everything else may be illusory, but endless human suffering is the inevitable Truth which we must start with.

Our philosophy is almost like a sinister Buddhism… awakening with fire, with lightning, with lust, cruelty, and indomitable Will. Traditional Buddhism seeks to alleviate suffering by adhering to the middle path, ignoring extremes. The CoC annihilates suffering by awakening consciousness as well as our inner magical force. We go after our desires. Yes, we actively meditate and strive for enlightenment, but we also covet and conquer. This is a religion of the spirit AND the flesh!

Those who read these words with understanding are more (or perhaps less) than human. If you feel a connection, a resonance with the prophecy of the Old Ones, then you are not like most. Genetically, you are not altogether homo sapien. A distinct minority of us were born closer to the demon race. The superior development of our gifts, imbued in us by the Dark Gods, has gone farther than ordinary man. We have evolved beyond our brothers. And it is this evolutionary might which drives us towards higher goals. Raising the Old Ones and destroying this "reality". We must find and respect those who also choose evil over good… as far as they respect us. Our demonic heritage demands that we usurp power over the rest of humanity. As wolves among sheep we have wandered.

Cult of Cthulhu

The Cult of Cthulhu is a sorcerer's lodge following the Left Hand Path, the road of self advancement. Official members work with occult secrets of an alien and hostile nature. Sometimes described as Lovecraftian Satanism, the Cult of Cthulhu seeks evolution for a select fragment of humanity.

Anyone can be a casual member of the CoC; however, three inner degrees will take possession of startling secrets. Most people don't want understanding, they want comfort. We are not most people; members of the CoC struggle to raise their knowledge and being. As our organization grows in strength, so the individual magus will rise up to claim his divine birthright.

Belief structures reality. We choose what to believe in and our beliefs influence "reality". Our consciousness has a direct effect on the world around us. Discover the nuances of this relationship, and there are few things a sorcerer cannot do.

Cult of Cthulhu Degrees

Messenger of the Outer Angles: This degree describes unofficial Cultists and supporters of the CoC; no rules; no fee; no responsibilities; no examination; Messengers of the Outer Angles cannot join an official CoC Grotto.

This is the base of the pyramid. Those who take the lowest risk receive the lowest reward. Messengers of the Outer Angles are encouraged to join the Cult of Cthulhu / Order of Absu yahoogroup. They are also welcome to contact the High Priest and official members to see what the CoC offers.

Herald of the Old Gods: This is an active member of the first inner degree; they receive The System which defines how to awaken and break down the barriers; given a magical name; a few rules; few responsibilities; few contributions; short application; small membership fee in exchange for The System and the annual Cult of Cthulhu newsletter; may join (but not lead) a local CoC Grotto.

This is where initiation starts. The Heralds of the Old Gods are the backbone of the organization - the lower stratum of the pyramid, but still vitally important. Heralds learn SoDOS and implement the work into their lives. All Cultists must enter the CoC at this point before applying for higher office.

Wizard of the Terrible Darkness: This is an active member of the second inner degree; initiated into the deeper mysteries of the Ancient Ones; given a second magical name; more rules; more responsibilities; more contributions (time, effort, commitment); longer application / examination, and reading list; may join or lead a local CoC Grotto.

Wizards of the Terrible Darkness go above and beyond the call of duty. They are the middle echelon of our pyramid, and they get things done. It takes a certain amount of discipline to become a Wizard. Once this office is entered, nothing will stand in their way.

Priest of R'leyh: Active member of the third inner degree; special rules, responsibilities, contributions, examination, and reading list. A Cultist must be invited to join the Priesthood, one cannot apply. There can only be 666 members of this selective degree at any one time.

The pyramid's upper portion; this is where experimental magic is produced. Priests are also responsible for promoting the Cult of Cthulhu.

High Priest: Cult of Cthulhu founder and leader Venger Satanis. Is the keeper of SoDOS; he's responsible for making sure things run smoothly and providing direction.

The eye in the pyramid, the High Priest must see all and know all. He must be The Way: Godlike and beyond dualistic notions / concepts, i.e. good and evil, right and wrong, safe and dangerous, real and unreal, sane and insane.

Cult of Cthulhu Grottoes

Grottoes belonging to the Cult of Cthulhu can be as individual as their members. A local group of Cultists might center their magical work on Satanism, Yog Sothoth, Nietzsche, the stories of Thomas Ligotti, Chaos Magic, investigating mythic concepts such as the Satanic Grail or the Sith… anything appropriate to the darker side of things.

Grottoes themselves can decide how often they will meet and what they'll be doing - how they will implement The System both individually and as a group.

Grottoes must be approved by the High Priest and lead by a Cultist of the second inner degree or higher. Each CoC Grotto must have at least three official members.

Application for official Cult of Cthulhu Membership

As of now, the Cult of Cthulhu is taking applications for official membership. The following application will allow you to become a Herald of the Old Gods. Cultists must wait one year before applying to the second inner degree, Wizards of the Terrible Darkness. Ambitious Cultists are encouraged to stay in frequent contact with High Priest Venger Satanis.

So if you think you have what it takes to become a serious black magician in the Cthulhu Mythos / Satanism vein, then this is what you need to do...

Why a fee? The $30 contribution goes towards offsetting the cost of maintaining the www.CultofCthulhu.net website, Cult promotion, metaphysical investigation, the annual newsletter, and most importantly it pays for The System of Dark Occult Science which will be mailed to you. It is human nature to undervalue something that is free, something that comes too easily. Without this monetary hurdle, it will be difficult for Cultists to have appropriate reverence for The System. The lifetime membership fee will be $30 throughout the rest of 2006. In 2007 this will jump up to $50.

The annual newsletter keeps Cultists informed of our affairs. It defines our goals and charts our progress. The newsletter covers recent discoveries in the areas of Satanism, Chaos Magic, and the Cthulhu Mythos. Members of the CoC are encouraged to write articles and submit news. Basically, it will keep the ties of our community strong.

The Devil-Gods ululate under a blood red moon in a dimension of tentacles and darkness. Chaos reigns as the first primitive ape-men dance around the violet hellfire. Most are born to ignorance, a handful are born to know.
